1. We can use Poisson distribution as a limiting case for the binomial distribution. In which situation we can do that?
2. A coin is tossed 20 times. Using the binomial distribution, find the mean, variance, of the number of heads that will be obtained.

Solution 1:
The Poisson distribution can be used as a limiting case for the binomial distribution in the following situation:
It is a limiting approximation to the binomial distribution, when p, the probability of success is very small but n, the number of trials is so large that the product np = m is of a moderate size.

Q#1:The Poisson distribution is a limiting case of the binomial distribution which arises when the number of trials n increases indefinitely whilst the product μ = np, which is the expected value of the number of successes from the trials, remains constant.
